Concessionary Passes Before 9:30 - The Open Secret Worth Knowing

Most people know that concessionary bus passes are valid after 9:30 - but here’s the open secret that isn’t widely talked about.

Across Somerset, a number of bus routes do allow concessionary pass use before 9:30, thanks to a quietly published list of early‑valid services. It’s not hidden… just not well known.

The Pass is valid along the whole of each listed route, wherever the bus is boarded.

That means on certain morning journeys, you can:

- Travel earlier than you thought

- Save money

- Make essential trips with less rush

If you rely on buses for appointments, shopping, or connecting to onward travel, this little‑known list can make a real difference.

Somerset Bus Partnership encourages everyone with a concessionary pass to check whether their local route is included - it’s a simple change that can open up your morning options.

We recommend having a copy of this list to hand when boarding the bus in case your driver is unfamiliar with the easement and tries charging you.

Let’s make this open secret… not so secret anymore.
